First day in Berlin!!
As our first day in Berlin comes to an end, looking back it was very exciting but also very tiring. As we arrived to the train station in Braunschweig this morning you could see on everyone's face that we were ready for a big day. After our one and a half train ride to Berlin we arrived at the largest train station in all of Europe and it was quite overwelming. We headed off to our hotel which is very nice and cute. Walking through the streets of Berlin is an experience in itself, the brand name stores such as Gucci and Versace are very eye catching and display are very different lifestyle from our own. We continued on to a small Berlin museum where we were taken into an atomic bomb shelter constructed in 1973. There we were shown what it would've been like to partake in a very rough life style for two weeks following a nuclear attack. Let me just say dying from the bomb would probably be better than living in the shelter. As the day carried on we traveled into East Berlin where we walked through the former Jewish neighborhoods. It was very moving to realize that all the people that lived in the community didn't survive through the Holocaust and the community was torn. To finish the day of we continued on to the Berlin Wall memorial. This area was very breathtaking and impactful. Today was a very good day and I can't wait to see what's in store for tomorrow!
